The FOMADECIE-BC (Forum on the Development of Environmental Communication and Information in the Congo Basin) is set to take place in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo, from March 18 to 21, 2025. This important multi-stakeholder forum will gather over 250 participants, including 150 journalists from more than 50 African media outlets, alongside communication and environmental experts from both the private and public sectors.

FOMADECIE-BC aims to provide a platform for environmental stakeholders operating in the Congo Basin to collaborate and develop innovative approaches to environmental communication, making it a key tool for achieving conservation objectives in the region. Participants will include communication experts from environmental ministries, project managers, international organization representatives, researchers, civil society leaders, business executives, and environmentalists.

The event will feature a variety of activities, such as training workshops for journalists, thematic workshops, side events, high-level conferences, round tables, and media events. These will focus on pressing environmental issues like biodiversity conservation, climate change, and the sustainable management of natural resources, all while emphasizing the crucial role of communication in addressing these challenges.

Organized by Afrique Environnement Plus, FOMADECIE-BC will receive support from institutional partners such as the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), and the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP), along with public and private organizations from Congo Basin member countries.

The forum will also promote regional cooperation and strengthen action synergies to support the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources in the Congo Basin, making it a significant event for environmental communication development.
